Counseling in Schools

Counseling in Schools is a Community Based Organization that partners with New York City Public Schools to expand access to mental healthcare by placing mental health professionals into schools across the city. CSI’s mission is to promote the emotional and social growth of children so that they can thrive in school and succeed in life. Kathryn

Kathryn was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, earning her bachelor’s degree from Colorado College in studio art with a minor in feminist and gender studies. After working as an artist and art educator, she decided to return to school and relocate to New York to pursue a career as an art therapist. She went on to earn her master’s in art therapy from New York University. In addition to working as a school based therapist, Kathryn is a youth and adult art instructor who specializes in textile arts. Kathryn is passionate about uplifting the students at Heritage, supporting them to find creative ways to express and process their emotions by providing a warm and welcoming environment where students can show up as their authentic selves. In her free time, Kathryn loves live music, watching horror movies, and going on outdoor adventures
