English

Students at Heritage take four years of rigorous and engaging English classes. From Night to The Great Gatsby, the curriculum encompasses a range of novels, poems, short stories, non-fiction, and dramas.
Independent Reading

On Fridays, students participate in literature circles. At the beginning of the year, they select a book of their choice and participate in a weekly discussion with group members.

Writing Skills

Students write essays throughout the year in order to hone their writing skills, practice for the Regents, and prepare for college and beyond. Essays range from thematic to argumentative to analytical.

Dramatic Arts

From Shakespeare to August Wilson, students read many plays throughout their time at Heritage. Students perform for their peers both in class and on stage.
